A Growing Threat to the Public

NASHVILLE, Tenn.— A 70-year-old Nashville man was accused of ramming his sport utility vehicle several times into the back of a vehicle that had a Obama/Biden bumper sticker.

Harry K. Weisiger made obscene gestures and pointed at the campaign sticker for President Barack Obama and running mate Joe Biden before he smashed into schoolteacher Mark Duren’s car, police said.

The incident appears to be among the overheated partisan political atmosphere, including death threats sent to members of Congress and their families who supported health care reform.

Duren had picked up his 10-year-old daughter from school Thursday when he stopped near the Belmont University campus. An SUV pulled up behind his Toyota Camry and the driver began honking and gesturing angrily toward the bumper sticker, The Tennessean reported.

As Duren drove home, the SUV’s driver continued making gestures and pointing at the sticker, according to a police report. The driver, identified by Nashville police as Weisiger, accelerated and crashed into the bumper, directly over the sticker.

Duren tried to calm his frightened daughter as he stopped and Weisiger rammed it again, trying to push it off the road, police said.

After a few more pushes, the SUV sped away and Duren called 911.

David Todd, who witnessed the accident from his window, said the SUV hit the car more than once.

“He hit him twice,” Todd said. “When I stood up, the truck was about a foot behind the car, and that’s when he plowed into him again and pushed him 50 feet, turned him sideways right here, and took off.”

A teacher carrying a 10-year old girl in his car.  Weisiger – you are dickless son-of-a-bitch coward Republican.  WWJD, right?  Chicken-shit.  The Religious Right is neither.

Isolated incident?  Aside from the dozen (and growing) documented death-threats and vandalism over the past week (Google it), let’s go back to the same area.  July, 2008 – again, another Republican coward (also from Tennessee):

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – An unemployed man accused of opening fire with a shotgun and killing two people at a Unitarian church apparently targeted the congregation out of hatred for its support of liberal social policies, police said Monday.

Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen IV said a signed, four-page letter written by Jim D. Adkisson, 58, was found in his small SUV in the church parking lot. Authorities said he was an apparent stranger to the Tennessee church where gunfire punctuated a children’s performance based on the musical “Annie.” Two people were killed and seven wounded Sunday.
“It appears that what brought him to this horrible event was his lack of being able to obtain a job, his frustration over that and his stated hatred of the liberal movement,” Owen said at a news conference.

Witnesses said some of the church members wrestled the suspect to the ground after he pulled a shotgun from a guitar case and fired three times.

“He certainly intended to take a lot of casualties,” Owen said. “He had 76 rounds with him.”

The shooting started as about 200 people watched a show put on by 25 children.

More recently, George Tiller was gunned down – again…during church – and again by a Republican zealot trying to shape politics through violence.
