Bonny Eagle Diploma Nazi: No Diploma for YOU!

If this rule IS really written - that blowing a kiss to a family member results in automatic denial of a degree…which idiot approved that rule?   How far up your ass must a stick be to produce this kind of decision?  Should all our high-school graduations be ruled with such an iron fist?  It’s like the character of the soup nazi on Seinfeld, where if a customer exhibits the smallest emotion or variation – he kicks them out and screams “No Soup for YOU!”.  Funny when it’s on TV and its about soup… 

Maybe they could keep the kids more subdued and somber if they hired a bouncer to give each of them a jab to the gut just before they went on stage.

For teens, there is no greater joy than graduating high school. Shaking off the shackles of education and claiming that hard-fought diploma is truly an epic day. Unfortunately, for several students at Bonny Eagle High School in Maine, their natural exuberance has led to some surprisingly serious problems.

On Friday night, when the senior class was waiting to graduate, excitement began to grow. Students bounced a large inflatable rubber duck. The noise level rose. And then came “the kiss.” When called, one student walked on stage to receive his diploma and blew a kiss to his family. The school administrator, clearly not the sentimental sort, sent the student back to his seat … sans diploma.

School superintendent Suzanne Lukas said that “if a student doesn’t adhere to the expectations, then the consequences are clearly spelled out.”

Ms. Lukas recently withheld a diploma from a young man named Justin Denny because he blew a kiss and bowed to his family on graduation day. We expect our school administrators to foster an environment of learning for our children that encourages them to excel, to mature and to become upstanding future leaders of this country. Ms. Lukas has failed in every aspect of her responsibilities as an educator or Superintendent and left a sad mark on this young man’s life. Please join this group to send a message to Ms. Lukas and the Bonny Eagle High School Board that we will not tolerate our educators acting as tyrants.
