Telemarketing on Cell Phones
July 14, 2008
Did you get a telemarketer on your cell phone? That is illegal! Filing a complaint is quick and easy – done via a Web form from the FCC. It only takes a couple of minutes to file the complaint. What you do: Note the time of the call. Get whatever information you can from the company (but do give out any of your own). Then go to: https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do and fill out their Web form. Done!
I got one from Auto Warranty One today. I recorded the call, notified them it was a mobile phone, and filed a complaint with the FCC. The Web form takes 3 or 4 minutes to complete. But this was my first time so I had to read everything. Next time I think that I could do it under 2 minutes.
You can use the form for any complaints relating to Junk Faxes, Junk Calls, Telemarketers, etc. It can be on your home phone, a mobile phone, a fax, even a pager.
And all you bastard telemarketers out there: There’s a better way to make money. Quit being a useless drag on society.
And why the hell are there so many telemarketers that are native English speakers but I can’t call anyone for support that’s a native speaker? If telemarketers would take support calls the world would be a better place.

I use a site like TelemarketerCatcher.com — they have a user-generated list of telemarketer phone numbers. You can tell just from caller id information who is and isn’t a solicitor.
